BOOK CORNER: Physician shares health secrets in ‘Why Doctors Skip Breakfast’

In “Why Doctors Skip Breakfast: Wellness Tips to Reverse Aging, Treat Depression, and Get a Good Night’s Sleep,” Dr. Gregory Charlop shares a variety of wellness techniques to help readers improve their health and well-being.

Charlop’s career as an anesthesiologist provided inspiration for his book.

“I realized that as doctors we’re not doing a very good job with getting the word out about lifestyle choices and how that impacts health,” Charlop said.

His goal in writing the book was to offer non-medical professionals information that they may not be aware of.

“Fasting, drinking coffee and eating the right foods and nutrients, are the keys to good health,” Charlop said. “The doctors know it — and now it’s time to spread the knowledge.”

As a doctor, it was important for Charlop to create a book that shares the wellness techniques needed to enhance one’s life.

“It’s time that we redirect our energy towards promoting health and optimizing human performance,” Charlop said. “We know how to make people live longer, how to increase athletic achievement, and how to boost energy and focus.”

Charlop offers readers modern techniques such as intermittent fasting, in depth knowledge regarding the importance of sleep and much more.

“A lot of times people look at not sleeping as a badge of honor … but it turns out that robbing yourself of sleep is one of the single worst things you can do for your health,” Charlop said.

“Why Doctors Skip Breakfast” offers an encouraging message of hope to readers about the role they can play in their future wellness. The book is geared towards anyone with depression, poor-quality sleep, middle-aged people who are concerned about the diseases associated with aging, and professionals who desire more energy.

“Readers will discover how much power they have to stay young, improve their energy level, and prevent disease,” Charlop said. “With a few simple lifestyle modifications, supplements, and dietary changes, readers will take charge of their destiny.”

Charlop is based in Beverly Hills and currently offers a telemedicine program for California residents geared toward helping patients improve their health and wellness. For more information about Charlop and his work, visit
