Norwalk libraries to share manager

NORWALK — The two county libraries here will be overseen by one person as opposed to separate managers, according to officials of the Los Angeles County Library Department.

Susan Baier, regional library administrator, on Sept. 15 introduced Susan Kane as the community librarian for the site at 12350 Imperial Highway and the Alondra Library, 11949 Alondra Blvd.

Part of the change is the expansion of hours at both sites, Baier said.

The Imperial library will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Previously, the library was closed on Thursdays.

The Alondra Library, previously closed Fridays, will be open from noon to 6 p.m. that day and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Other hours are noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Baier said.

Kane said there will be new programs at both sites including online classes and teaching of science, technology, engineering and math programs.
